The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have declared the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a “public health emergency of international concern” and has issued multiple travel advisories, which continue to change daily. Due to the highly contagious nature of this virus, the CDC also recommends avoiding public gatherings.
With that in mind, the IALEP Board has decided to not host the Annual conference in Kansas City, MO this September. We apologize for any inconveniences the cancellation may cause. The board members understand the importance of quality training opportunities for those working in law enforcement planning; however, the decision to not host a conference this year was determined to be in the best interest for the health and welfare of our members and the public in general.
In addition to potential exposure to the Coronavirus, the IALEP Board is concerned the growing number of flight restrictions, government and business closures, and expanding quarantine areas will make travel to and from the training difficult, if not impossible.
The Board is currently working on arranging a future date, when it is safe to once again meet in person, and will provide updates as they are available. We will also be providing information on new and creative solutions for information sharing among our network of experts in this unprecedented time in policing.
